HISTORY

 

On November 15, 1966, the first meeting of the Alexandria Water board was held in Alexandria. The Alexandria System was put into operation in September 1969 serving approximately 130 customers.

On November 12, 1968, the first meeting if the Websters Chapel Water Board was held in Websters Chapel.  The Websters Chapel System was put into operation in 1969.

In 1977, these two systems merged to form Calhoun County Water and Fire Protection Authority.

Presently, we have 10,682 active customers.  We have approximately 1,000 miles of water lines.  We have a 6,000,000 gallon-per-day Filtration Plant that we use presently to produce about 3,000,000 gallons per day.  We have 18 storage tanks plus a clear well located at the filtration plant for a total storage of 3,615,000 gallons.  Our water supply comes from Seven Springs, Reads Mill Spring, Websters Chapel Wel, Possum Trot Well, Choccolocco Well and Ohatchee Well and we also purchase water from Oxford Water and Anniston Water.
